I haven't seen this before

When four of Santa's elves got sick, the trainee elves did not produce toys as fast as the regular ones, and Santa began to feel the Pre-Christmas pressure.

Then Mrs. Claus told Santa her Mother was coming to visit, which stressed Santa even more.

When he went to harness the reindeer, he found that three of them were about to give birth and two others had jumped the fence and were out, Heaven knows where.

Then when he began to load the sleigh, one of the floorboards cracked, the toy bag fell to the ground and all the toys were scattered. Frustrated, Santa went in the house for a cup of apple cider and a shot of rum. When he went to the cupboard, he discovered the elves had drunk all the cider and hidden the liquor.. In his frustration, he
accidentally dropped the cider jug, and it broke into hundreds of little glass pieces all over the kitchen floor. He went to get the broom and found the mice had eaten all the straw off the end of the broom.

Just then the doorbell rang, and an irritated Santa marched to the door, yanked it open, and there stood a little angel with a great big Christmas tree.

The angel said very cheerfully, 'Merry Christmas, Santa. Isn't this a lovely day? I have a beautiful tree for you. Where would you like me to stick it?'

And so began the tradition of the little angel on top of the Christmas tree.

Not a lot of people know this.

Cookie vs. Bisquit

As Britain and many other European countries use the word biscuit instead of cookie, I wondered where we acquired it from. It appears to be from the Dutch. You don't think of colonial / growing America having a large Dutch population. Yet, cookie is the diminutive form of cake in Dutch.

Diet - day 1

The first day of changing my eating habits on what I eat - otherwise known as a diet - I hit my calorie goal. Until two months ago, I didn't have to think about what I ate. I maintained my weight and I was okay with that. My newest drug has changed that. I've gained 7lbs. So, I have to cut back in order to not gain any more and exercise in hopes of losing the 7lbs.

Just paying attention to details I was able to stay just over 1,000 calories today. Tomorrow's dinner is pizza. So there is no way it will be under 1,150K. Trade off for having whatever on Tuesday nights with my True Blood viewing crew is I will have to take a salad to Colin's Mom's dinner on Sunday. She make some of the best "Mom's cooking / comfort food."

I'm working on setting up an exercise area downstairs. Going to my mother's Wednesday through Friday is going to really screw with establishing a pattern. My therapist suggested I take a yoga dvd to my mother's. Combine exercise with a bit of meditation.

Lets pray the dermatologist says all I need are zinc supplements. Otherwise all these new changes might as well go down the drain.

Product / Recipe review

Yesterday I made Hungry Girl's Banana Bread recipe. I was excited because it used three bananas where many recipes only call for one. Well, I was disappointed. It didn't rise at all and tastes nothing like banana bread. I know it must be me, but I don't think it even tastes like bananas.

This morning I used Fiber One's buttermilk pancake mix. I am happy I paid the extra dollar and change for it over the regular mixes. The mix is thinner than you would expect, but it makes nice fluffy pancakes. The only drawback is the mix runs; so oblong pancakes it is. I added blueberries, which was yummy. I learned blueberry pancakes eaten alone are not near as good as when eaten with company.

Appetizers

I need a really neat, yet easy appetizer recipe. Any suggestions?

perspectives

I try to get three different perspectives and one of the biggies is down for maintenance. That sucks. Done bitching now...

Domestic Jobs

Besides cleaning, what makes someone a housewife? How do the responsibilities differ from a housekeeper (vs a maid who only cleans; traditional housekeepers have more responsibilities than that.)

GA elliminates their Arts funding

I have received this from the Atlanta History Center, The Shakespeare Tavern, Callanwolde Fine Arts Center and Georgia Shakespeare (the one at Oglethorpe University). Please do something! I can see our great state doing this. My guess is places like the Shakespeare Tavern, who have been struggling, will close their doors if this happens.

Shalie

Georgia Council of the Arts Budget Zeroed Out
Please Act Now

The following message is from the Georgia Council for the Arts, offering options for communicating your support for the arts in Georgia to your state legislators.

The House Appropriations Committee voted yesterday to eliminate the Georgia Council for the arts budget for FY 2011. If passed, GCA will not exist. This means:

1 - Georgia will be the only state and territory that will have no state arts agency.

2 - We will lose the Grassroots Arts Program that ensures there is arts programming in every Georgia County.

3 - Georgia will lose tax money that is reinvested in our state through the National Endowment for the Arts. This money is entirely contingent on the GCA budget being at least $900,000. This money from the NEA funds programs in every Georgia County.

4 - We will lose more jobs in this economic crisis.

If you value the arts in Georgia, please follow the "Take Action" link on this page to contact your legislators and make clear the impact of the loss of GCA funds to your organization and to our state.

TAKE ACTION!

Athiest Holy Day

FLORIDA COURT SETS ATHEIST HOLY DAY

In Florida , an atheist created a case against the upcoming Easter and Passover Holy days. He hired an attorney to bring a discrimination case against Christians and Jews and observances of their holy days. The argument was that it was unfair that atheists had no such recognized days.

The case was brought before a judge. After listening to the passionate presentation by the lawyer, the judge banged his gavel declaring, "Case dismissed!"

The lawyer immediately stood objecting to the ruling saying, "Your honor, How can you possibly dismiss this case? The Christians have Christmas, Easter and others. The Jews have Passover, Yom Kippur and Hanukkah, yet my client and all other atheists have no such holidays."

The judge leaned forward in his chair saying, "But you do.. Your client, counsel, is woefully ignorant."

The lawyer said, "Your Honor, we are unaware of any special observance or holiday for atheists."

The judge said, "The calendar says April 1st is April Fools Day. Psalm 14:1 in The Bible states, "The fool says in his heart, there is no God." Thus, it is the opinion of this court, that, if your client says there is no God, then he is a fool. Therefore, he already has a day. April 1st is his day. Court is adjourned."

April 1st is still a few days away, but I thought this funny enough to post in advance.

Which is worse?

After a poet dies, it is discovered that he was an amazing success. His name is known across the county, by the general public. His wife nor the poet had any idea. The poet's brother kept them in the dark and kept 95% of the profits. Which is worse - the betrayal by the brother or dieing believing you were mediocre with only one mildly successful poem?
